Scholarship: Chapter Member Assistance

You must be an active member in good standing of the Great Lakes Chapter (GLC) for a period of at least 12 months to apply for this assistance.

In accordance with the GLC Policy and Practices Manual, this assistance is available for:

  • Conference/CEU Attendance
  • Scholarships (available for Graduate or Undergraduate course work, as well as AAAE Training/Certification programs)
  • AAAE membership dues assistance

Requests will be accepted for expenditures that occurred within the preceding 12 months or that will occur within the upcoming 12 months. For all types of requests other than academic scholarships, reimbursement will be awarded to students upon confirmation of conference attendance or successful completion of an examination or certification program.

 Scholarship: Student Chapter Financial Assistance

The AAAE Great Lakes Chapter established a Student Chapter Program in 1996, and one of the goals of the program is to provide financial support to AAAE Student Chapters. Student Chapters within the Great Lakes Chapter area may request up to $500 each calendar year to support the cost of at least one Student Chapter representative to attend the AAAE Annual Conference or Great Lakes Chapter Annual Conference.

Instructions: Please fill out all questions on the application. Attach a copy of your latest AAAE student Chapter Annual Report, and any additional support material that you feel will be helpful in evaluating this application.

ARFF Valor Award

Each year, the Great Lakes Chapter sponsors an award of valor for outstanding performance in ARFF or safety. The award is presented at the AAAE Annual Conference. Nominations are solicited on a national basis and are reviewed by Chapter ARFF committee. The award includes a citation describing the circumstances involved and a $500 check from the Chapter.

Past ARFF Valor Award Recipients


ARFF Achievement Award

This award was established to recognize fire rescue personnel within the Chapter who have been nominated by their supervisors for meritorious and dedicated service within their section. Acts of performance deserving recognition of this award need not be in the heroic or life-saving category. Time and cost saving procedures, equipment modification, and improved training methods are things that would merit a nomination for this award. A $100 check is presented the winner(s).

Past ARFF Achievement Award Recipients


 NEW! GLCAAAE Emerging Professional Award

 The Emerging Professional Award celebrates and encourages early-career airport professionals who have exhibited efforts of high standard; demonstrated significant promise of leadership; performed commendable service to their communities or to the airport profession; and/or have made significant contributions to the Great Lakes Chapter. The award recipient must be non-executive, airport-employed professionals and GLCAAAE member who, at a minimum, has more than two years and less than ten years of professional experience in the airport industry.

 GLCAAAE Airport Professional of the Year Award

This award is presented to an Executive Member of the Chapter, in good standing, who may or may not be an AAE. The recipient shall have established himself or herself as a deserving recipient of the Award by his/her professional accomplishments and contributions to the industry in the recent past, including demonstrated support/participation in the GLCAAAE Chapter.

GLCAAAE Corporate Member of the Year Award

This award is presented to a corporate member or firm who is a member in good standing of the Chapter. They must have completed work or supplied a product within the Chapter’s boundaries, or must have made a significant contribution within the Industry, particularly within the Chapter’s boundaries, during the calendar year prior to the Annual Chapter Conference.

GLCAAAE Commercial Airport Project of the Year Award

This award is presented to an airport that is currently represented within the Chapter by an Executive Member in good standing. The project must be fully operational at the time of the nomination. Award will be given to one Airfield Project and Architectural Project.
